Ingredients

  • 2 cups masa harina
  • 1/2 cup lard or vegetable shortening
  • 1.5 cups chicken broth or vegetable broth
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 12-15 dried corn husks soaked in warm water
  • Optional fillings: cheese salsa, or shredded meat

Instructions

  • Prepare the Corn Husks: Soak the corn husks in warm water for 1 hour until soft.
  • Make the Masa Dough: In a large bowl, mix masa harina, salt, and lard. Gradually add broth and knead until smooth.
  • Shape the Corundas: Take 2-3 tablespoons of dough, shape into a triangle, and place on a corn husk. Fold the husk around the dough.
  • Steam the Corundas: Arrange the Corundas in a steamer and steam for 1-1.5 hours until firm.
  • Serve: Unwrap and serve warm with salsa, crema, or your favorite toppings.
