Ingredients

For the Spaghetti:

  • 175 g spaghetti
  • 390 g spaghetti sauce

For the Meatballs:

  • 150 g ground pork
  • 1 medium potato grated
  • 2 stalks green onions chopped
  • tsp soy sauce
  • ½ tsp iodized rock salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • Oil for frying
  • Grated cheese for topping optional

Instructions

  • Cook spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine ground pork, grated potato, and chopped green onions.
  • Season the mixture with soy sauce, iodized rock salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
  • Form tablespoon-sized portions of the mixture into round meatballs.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry meatballs until golden brown on all sides.
  • Remove meatballs from pan and set aside on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  • In a saucepan, bring spaghetti sauce to a simmer.
  • Add the fried meatballs to the sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Serve the meatballs and sauce over the cooked spaghetti.
  • Top with grated cheese if desired.

Notes

The grated potato acts as a natural binder and keeps the meatballs incredibly moist and tender
Make sure to squeeze excess moisture from the grated potato before mixing to prevent overly wet meatballs
You can substitute ground pork with ground chicken or beef, but pork provides the most authentic Asian flavor profile
Meatballs can be made ahead and frozen for up to 3 months - just thaw and simmer in sauce when ready to serve
For extra Asian flair, add a dash of sesame oil to the meatball mixture or garnish with sesame seeds
If you don't have rock salt, regular table salt works fine - just use slightly less as it's more concentrated
The meatballs can be baked at 375°F for 20 minutes instead of frying for a healthier option
